Chocolate, chocolate, chocolate. Undeniably, it’s one of the best parts to any holiday treat—and Valentine’s Day is no exception. While some celebrate Feb. 14 as “Singles Awareness Day,” others are fortunate enough to have someone to share the special day with. Regardless, anyone can get in on the holiday fun and indulge in the sweet treats. Whether you want to prepare a snack for a boyfriend, girlfriend, or just some friends and family you love, this recipe is easy and delicious.

These chocolate covered pretzel hearts add a little extra flair to V-Day—and who doesn’t love sprinkles? This satisfies the salt-addict and those who have a nagging sweet tooth.

All that is needed is a bag of pretzels, chocolate chips, wax paper, and sprinkles. The chocolate can be any flavor of your choice depending upon how you want the design aesthetic to look. The best item to find is the chocolate chips specially made for microwave heating—although, fondue chocolate is also available and easy. A good idea to incorporate Valentine’s colors is to add a little splash of red food coloring to a white chocolate batch to create pink icing. Although these are a little harder to find at the grocery, pink and red sprinkles really do the trick.

Once you’ve laid out all your ingredients, now the fun starts! Heat up the chocolate until it’s a creamy mixture. While it’s heating, place wax paper on baking trays. Then, use a toothpick to hold the pretzel and gently dip it into the chocolate. While the chocolate is still wet, add the sprinkles on top. Place in the refrigerator for about 20 minutes.

Once you get the hang of it, you can get creative. You can drizzle contrasting chocolate designs on the pretzels, half-dip, whole dip, or whatever idea comes to mind. Luckily, the pretzels are already heart-shaped, so it’s perfect for this. Of course, chocolate covered strawberries are a party-pleaser, too. Strawberries call for the same treatment.

Valentine’s Day doesn’t have to be all about romantic love. Plutonic love is just as important, and what better way to show someone you care than by getting creative with your culinary skills. But please, make the presentation pretty—sometimes it makes the food taste even better!
